EBS (CEO: Yong-seob Shin) won 2 second-place prizes at the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) Broadcasting Awards 2015 on April 20. During the awards ceremony at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, the EBS Docu Prime episode entitled “By What Do Musical Instruments Live?” (executive producer: Deok-dam Chu; director: Gyeong-seok Baek) and another EBS Docu Prime episode entitled “The Family Shock” (executive producer: Deok-dam Chu; directors: Gwang-ho Kim, Hun-seok Kim, and Eun-mi Park) won awards for “creative development” and “society and culture,” respectively. The award-winning EBS Docu Prime episode was a three-part documentary that explored how musical instruments—final winners of millennia-long wars of sounds—came to dominate contemporary music. “The Family Shock,” the final installment of the trilogy that began with “The Mother Shock” in 2011 and evolved into “The Father Shock” in 2013, invited viewers to reflect upon the true meaning and value of family. “By What Do Musical Instruments Live?” won the Program of the Month Award from the KCC in September 2014, the 2nd place award at the Grimee Award in 2014, and also the Award for Experimental Spirit at the 27th Korea Producers Awards. “The Family Shock” won the Public Program of the Year Award at the 27th Korea Producers Awards.
